Attack of Miley

I've never been a fan or nonfan of Miley Cyrus or her alter ego Hannah Montana. But, as of late Ms. Miley is everywhere.

Minding my business watching television and I find myself engrossed in a preview for the new Hannah Montana movie. My new Glamour magazine has none other than Miley splashed across the cover all agrin with fabulous flowing hair.

So, I've decided to be a fan. I think at the age of 16 she's probably making a lot better life choices than some people twice her age. And, perhaps more importantly for our purposes of fashion and fabulous styling, she has been looking killer lately. 

Exhibit A: A fierce combo of a Alberta Ferretti fringe dress and tough jacket.

Exhibit B: A lush grecian one-shoulder by Monique Lhuillier is all grown up and yet totally works.

Scrub so good you can just scrub your nose in it

As a naturally oily gal I'm always on the hunt for a great exfoliator. I found a new one I'm really enjoying from Soap & Glory. (I'm not going to lie the cute packaging sucked me in.)

The bril thing about this is that you can use it as a scrub or leave it on until it dries and voila you have an oil-absorbing mask. Find it at Target for less than $13.

New boutique swings their door WIDE open

If you're looking for a new bag and shoes and an outfit and skincare and makeup and perfume you usually have to fight the crowds and (crappy) parking at a department store - until now. 

Butterfly Bodies has opened their doors in the Shops at Martial (2201 Kaliste Saloom Road) and offers everything you need from head to toe and they carry a great variety of cosmetic lines like dermalogica, colorscience and freeze 24-7 to name just a few.

They're hosting a grand opening all week (discounts, wine, food, free goodies, free makeovers, you get the picture). 

Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. there will be free makeovers, mini facials, food wine and 30 percent off the entire Spring 2009 Collection. 

All skincare and cosmetics are 15 percent off Thursday, Friday and Saturday. 

And head out Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for even more goodies. 

Race with FACE

Race for the Cure was an amazing event. A record number of participants showed their support (try 9,000-plus!) by walking/running a 5K in downtown Lafayette.

Thousands of women across Acadiana came out to fight breast cancer. It was truly moving.

JUMP!

Jumpsuits have always taken up residence at the bottom of my list of do's, but a new crop of them is showing up and with flattering cuts and proper proportions and changing all that.

Toni Collette and Dakota Fanning both work jumpsuits that actually work.

Lacroix in wonderland

Christian Lacroix's haute couture was full of whimsical designs I'd love to see on fashionistas like Gwen Stefani or Rihanna. These looks are not for the faint of heart.

The best of couture

Elie Saab wiped the floor with their haute couture show. In fact there were too many cocktail and dazzling formals to pick just a handful. With detailed beading, swipes of lux shining fabrics and dramatic lines this collection full of subtle shades offers a dozen show stoppers.
